Pictures, the Salisbury llama, etc...

My wireless is finally working, so here are some of the pictures of Salisbury I promised!

Our host in Salisbury, John Potter, took us on a long walk through the water meadows there. We happened to walk by as a group of sheep was herded to another pasture...led by....

Larry the Llama. We asked the sheep herders...his name is actually Larry and he's pretty famous around Salisbury. We went to an old pub nearby for lunch and saw 'Save Larry the Llama' written with chalk on a ceiling beam. According to the bar tender, Larry engages in some questionable acts with the sheep from time to time, as he doesn't have a Lucy Llama...some tourists saw this and actually complained to the Salisbury City Council. LUCKILY, thanks to the hard work of some local Salisburians, Larry will remain keeper of the Salisbury flocks.

Here's our host, John Potter! Brilliant and hospitable man...Oxford grad too! He spent an entire day showing us his BEAUTIFUL hometown.

View from a bridge in Salisbury...beautiful place.

Salisbury is famous for its cathedral...here you can see the spire over the water meadows.

AND here it is....STONEHENGE! We were pretty excited to have dramatically overcast weather...felt appropriate. Something I didn't realize before visiting the site is that the entire landscape is covered with ancient burial mounds.

Balancing busy London with peaceful Salisbury was great...and now (at long last!) I am in Oxford...!!!! See next post for more.. :)
